Draft law on the setting of minimum wage

Source: BRT
02 February 2007

The Council of Ministers has prepared a draft law on the setting of minimum wage and sent it to the Republic’s Assembly.

The draft law authorizes the Minister concerned to set a new minimum wage if-and-when the Minimum Wage Commission fails to agree on a new minimum wage at the end of at least four meetings.

The draft calls for a change to the 7th article of the Minimum Wage Law.

Currently, the minimum wage is 860 New Turkish Liras and the Minimum Wage Commission – which has held four meetings since 18th of January - failed to set a new minimum wage.
