| Dollars flying over your head whilst your dancing, money being pinned onto you at the end of the ceremony and walking in a circle 3 times when you enter the place where the ceremony will be held are all part of a typical cypriot wedding. Follow this route for a classic cyprus wedding |

| As someone who has got married in TRNC this year, yes it is valid in the UK or anywhere else but you do have to have the correct paperwork in place. That does mean getting the relevant paperwk stamped at the Consulate in London. Having been to the Kaymakam office and seeing a lady in tears who had not got her paperwork stamped and them refusing to marry her,it is obviously very important. Yes you can get married within the grounds of Bellapais Abbey. We needed Cert of Non Impediment each from a UK solicitor, birth certs, divorce papers, passports & 2 witnesses with their passports and had to take them to the Consulate in Bedford Square to be stamped not earlier than 3 months before the wedding and then we had a wedding coordinator who took over from there. This rule seems to apply to ex pats residents as well as our photographer Jean Clark who has lived on the island for 20 odd years also was expected to do exactly the same so she married in the South& a blessing in North. |
