Millionaire businessman David Lewis's super yacht was this week anchored at what will be a 350 berth marina, about half way along the Karpaz Peninsular, due for completion 2010. (as seen on front page of Wed Cyprus Today newspaper) This marina will berth upto 65 metre super yachts, and will surely add huge value to the Karpaz Peninsular. Mr Lewis is one of the owners of the Lewis Trust Group based in the UK, employing 10,000 people, including the River Island high street clothing chain. Clearly this marina is well under way, details of the resort can be seen following the link:- http://www.karpazbay.com/Sea/Content/English/Resort/.aspx For details of stunning sea front properties minutes from this marina, please visit http://www.busybeesestateagents-cyprus.com/bluecove.html front row from just 30 metres from the waters edge. Please contact us directly for details of other properties in this stunning location, offering this luxurious marina. info@busybeesestateagents-cyprus.com

I am making this sticky for a few days. Are there photos of the construction? I could not find any on the website. Can anyone summarise what was said about the Karpaz marina on Cyprus Today?

I used to work for Mr Lewis in London and was lucky enough to be invited on to his yacht on Monday. The project is well under way and there will be 2 x 5 star hotels by the marina as well as a 'village' of shops and cafes. The marina will take up to 300 berths and hopefully will bring in a lot of tourism to the area. Corinne

In response to another thread started by New lad Hi New Lad do not follow why you have posted this old report? In September 20009 it could be seen that significant progress was being. I was told second hand who had been informed by someone who was working on the project - the marina with a dry dock was expected to be completed in 12months and over the following 2 years an hotel, shops, restaurants, 9 hole golf course and desalination plant would be added"

When I saw first time marin in Karpaz, it was over 1 year ago, I didnt like it. It was too big and I was wondering who will come there? I have doubts if this is a really good idea to bring more tourism there. Karpaz has unique nature and it had donkey reserve, turtle beaches...more turists - more dergradation of natural beauty for me...on the way to ayios philon and further u can see, on the left side of the road, many started but not yet finished turistic projects...I am scpetic about building more and more...and this idea with casino...we have already many around the island - do we really need another one? Im afraid that Karpaz marina + Mr. Lewis project will somehow ruin natural beauty and wildness of this part of island...If Mr. Lewis wants to invest some money in Karpaz maybe he should really go around and ask people what they really need there or maybe she should invest some money to help saving Karpaz wildlife?

Message 12 - you are quite right - these people are determined to continue spoiling North Cyprus !!! They are not interested in the people or their needs - or wildlife. They are creating a nightmare like the south.

These people, as it has been put, are making a huge investment into North Cyprus and in an area that at present has very little in terms of employment opportunities. Once complete it will attract quality tourists to the area, hopefully to what will be a more upmarket destination than other areas in Cyprus. Mention has been made of the South and whilst this is true that many parts in Southern Cyprus have been spoiled it is also true of many parts of Northern Cyprus too. The strict planning regulations in the Karpaz region are in place to ensure that it is not spoilt, meaning far fewer houses being built than in other areas and only quality projects such as the new Marina at Yenierenkoy being given the go ahead.

| For those of you who may not know the location of the new marina it is just east of the village of Yenierenkoy, about half way up the Karpaz Peninsular, work is continuing and hopefully it should be finished on schedule. We are confident that it will still make sure that the Karpaz region remains the most beautiful in Cyprus, with by far the best beaches and its National Park, which can never be built on. | I went past it for the first time in early May this year and I was surprised how big it was and wondered who was behind the development... Having read the informative posts above I now know... Many thanks for the input Regards David RR |
