Is there anyone out there buying in Marina Villas, Karsiyaka? We have been in Northern Cyprus for 6 months and still no signs of it being finished. Talking to the developer and solicitor does not seem to move things forward at all. We would love to hear from anyone in the same position.



Our email is a little iffy too so if we don't respond straight away, that is why.

Just past Tolga's, on the right hand side, turn down just after the Altinbas Bank bus stop and it's close to the sea, right next to a greeny house standing in it's own land.

It was Sydney Construction now the lovely Antonio. They do seem to be doing some work there though.

Im buying there but havent been out since last year. Builder non-communicative. Have they finished the pool yet, and the ones facing the sea?

Some of the ones facing the sea are finished (to what extent I don't know exactly but there are some Turkish families living in 2 of them although there is no electric or mains water). There is an additional building going up in the gap facing the sea and the other buildings are at varying stages. There are also some new foundations at the back of the site. The pool has it's concrete structure I think but no more than that.

Please pm us - our house should have been finished with electric and water earlier this year, the structure is up but we have no solar panels, water or electric, driveway etc and to date no timescale for it being finished.



New builders are on site so things are ticking on albeit slowly. If you let us know your house no we will tell you exactly where your house is up to.

By the way who did you buy from?

We are number 18 and was supposed to move in in March of this year! Who did you buy from?



Nothing has happened to no's 17 and 18 since about last October except the solar panel and water tank from the roof has gone off ours. If you had them on your roof they have also gone.

Bought from Little Villa. Quite happy with them but on last contact they couldnt talk to the developer Wayne. So I tried; no luck. I was expecting to move in the Autumn but Im disappointed with lack of progress.

Hi David,

We have seen the new builder's contract which say ours, yours and a few others should be finished by 31st August 2008 - we know from our solicitor the builder has been given an extra month! He has put in cess pits to both our houses. Electricity is supposed to appear by 31st December 2008!

He seems to be doing bits to some of the houses that are not as advanced as ours - the ones to the right of no 18 are up to 1st floor level with concrete and 2nd floor seems to be going on.

We can't seem to get an answer as to why they're not finishing ours off but are clearly contracted to do so - but you can't live without electricity.

The builder has said and keeps saying a 200KVA generator will be going on the site but never appears.

I guess that some progress is better than none! Who did you buy through? I think both Stringer & Donaghy are connected to the developers. My contract anticipates completion by March 09 & then penalty clauses dont cut in till 2 months later & there is a retention clause (buy you'd think the developer would want the rest of his money?) My solicitor was Naomi Mehmet who was handling quite a number of these...who were you using?

March 09 looks ok for you,as we said work is going on at the site.We purchased through Stringers,they have now changed hands. The developers are Donaghy and Heath (Heath now owns half of Stringers). Our solicitor is Mine Konate,very helpful lady.

Do you intend using Marina Villas as your permanant home or as a holiday home?

I've only just found this forum and have been reading all your comments regarding Marina Villas, we bought plot no. 27 nearly 4 years ago now via Wayne Heath. As you also mentioned it seemed as though things started moving again late last year under Vasmara construction but everything has now come to a stand still again.



Have you had any further contact with the developers? I've pretty much written off any hope of this ever getting finished.

This complex was a project of Donaghy & Heath Developments Ltd. Steve Donaghy bought and married into Donaghy & Beyler Estate Agents. Wayne Heath bought into Stringers Estate Agents and has (temporarily ?) left North Cyprus.

One of their other sites was Ocean View Villas in Karsiyaka where they have refused to pay for individual consumer electric to the houses which are still on builders tariff. They also refuse to complete their contractual obligations and are trying to extract additional funds from their clients. Snagging has been left unfinished and they have repeatedly misled them especially regarding the electric installation
