Why 44?

Everybody is curious to know why it's Cyprus44...

... because Ahmet counted 44 wild donkeys in his last trip to Karpas.

... because the temperatures hit 44 degrees celcius in August.

... because you may drive to Karpas from Kyrenia in 44 different ways.

... because the average cost of car hire during high season in North Cyprus is approximately 44 Turkish Lira.

... because airport transfer from Larnaca to Kyrenia costs 44 British Pounds with 4 Pound tip included.

... because most tourists come from UK whose country code is 44.

... because we can list 44 stupid reasons here that will be true.

To be honest, we didn't have a reason to go with Cyprus44.
We wanted something short and easy to recall from memory.
Anything other than digits was already taken.
A single digit wasn't good enough and repeated digits sounded brand-like.
Cyprus11, 22, 33 wasn't really suitable as it implied competition.
5 is half of 10 and above 5, it didn't really tick us!
So, here you go.. Cyprus44.
